A circle 3D QR code is a round QR code with a 3D scene on top. On 3D-QR (3d-qr.com) you make one for free, with no sign-up: the scene stands up out of the circle, then folds flat into a code any phone camera can scan.
How a round QR code works
A QR code is always square on the inside. A round QR code puts that square in the middle of a disc, keeps a clear ring one square wide around it, and fills the rest of the circle with decorative squares in the same colour. Phone cameras find the three corner markers of the real code and read only that part, so the decoration never gets in the way.
In 3D, the decoration does something useful. The scene is built from cubes that stand only on dark squares, and the decorative squares count too, so the whole disc becomes part of the picture. As the camera reaches the top, every cube takes on the codeβs dark colour and the circle reads as a normal code.
What the extra space is for
- π³ Trees and gardens: grass, flowers, rocks, bushes and a mushroom or two grow around the tree.
- β°οΈ Mountains: a ring of small pine trees and rocks.
- π Christmas tree: presents and snow around the base.
- π Pumpkin: a patch of little pumpkins.
- π Pizza: it grows to fill the circle, like a pizza on a plate.
Where round codes look best
Circles stand out in feeds full of square photos, and they sit well inside round shapes: profile pictures, stickers, coasters, badges and logos. Use the animated version on screens (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, websites and shop displays) and the flat PNG: QR download for print. For a plain round code with no 3D scene, use the circle QR code generator.
Make sure it scans
Keep the background light, give it a few seconds on the code with Time on each view, and test the download with your phone before you share it. Round codes are a little wider than square ones for the same link, so a short link gives bigger squares that scan from further away.
