Contact QR code or website link?
- Contact (vCard) QR: opens “Add to contacts” with everything filled in. Best for networking, since your details are saved straight away and work offline.
- Link QR: opens your website or LinkedIn. Best if you want to show a portfolio or keep your details up to date in one place.
Use the type tabs above the form to switch between them.
Printing it on a card
- Size: at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide. For a full contact card with many fields, aim for 2.5 cm.
- Placement: the back of the card works well. Leave a clear margin around the code.
- Colors: keep the code dark on a light background. Avoid printing it over photos or patterns.
- File: send the SVG to your printer. It stays sharp at any size and works with Vistaprint, Moo, Canva and print shops.
Why not a paid digital business card?
Subscription “digital card” apps stop working if you cancel. A vCard QR code stores your details inside the code itself, so it’s free and permanent. Change your job? Just print new cards with a new code.
Fitting it into your design
- If the front of the card is full, put the code on the back with a short line such as “Scan to save my details”.
- Use your darkest brand colour for the code and leave the background white.
- Keep a few millimetres of clear space between the code, the card’s edge and any text.
- If your printer trims cards, keep the code well inside the safe area, away from the cut line.
Check the proof
Ask your printer for a proof. Scan the code on the proof at its final size, and check that every detail saves correctly on your phone: spelling, phone number format and website. Fixing a typo before the print run costs nothing.
